Lyon is the second largest city in France but this is not immediately obvious to the casual visitor who spends most of his or her time in Vieux Lyon, the historical part of Lyon which deservedly attracts the most attention. Well known as a gastronomic paradise, it is a far more intimate and enjoyable city than Paris.
