Vernet-les-Bains,
Abbaye de St-Michel-de-Cuxà

Oct 2006

Vernet-les-Bains is a large village perched on the slopes of the Canigou, fashionable and popularised by English aristocrats in the early 20th century as a spa town.

The Benedictine monastery of St-Michel-de-Cuxà is a 9th century abbey a short and scenic drive from Prades. Now open to the public, the monastery presents a lovely and imposing edifice to travellers on the road from the small hamlet of Taurinya.
