Temple of Apollo

This is the most ancient sanctuary in Pompeii, dating from 575-550 BC. On either side
of the portico, there are statues of Apollo and Diana (the originals are in a museum
in Naples). The statue of Diana is in relatively poor condition, without both her arms.
The ominous grey outline of Vesuvius is visible in the background.
