Castle Stalker
Contax Aria, 85mm, Fuji Velvia
Probably the most elusive
castle in the Scottish Highlands, the experience of trying to get a good photographic
view of it
reminded me very much of Kafka's Castle. All the coastal paths that led close
to the castle were made impassable by huge puddles
caused by days of relentless, torrential rain. Private estates and fenced-off
grazing pastures, as well as rusty wire fences
prevented easy access to the castle. In the end, one had to make do with a
long lens over a closed gate, a
considerable distance from the castle itself. And it is still questionable
whether it was worth the effort.
