Old Bergen
Only a small part of medieval
Bergen still stands after numerous fires throughout its history
destroyed large swathes of the town. Bergen's tiny museum had an exhibition
that summer devoted to describing
its numerous fires, how they started and what they destroyed. The old part
of Bergen comprises rickety wooden buildings painted in
typical Scandinavian colours; rust red, brown and green. There was a certain
feel of abandonment to it all and many
of these buildings were clearly disused.
